Chapter 4 - "Follow me" - a blog series

 FOLLOW ME
       Chapter 4 - Electronic

The holiday season was fast approaching and the festive mood had already set down upon Gotham City. But for Barbara, the festivities would start only if she managed to find out the new vigilante who was terrorizing her. He wasn’t terrorizing the city. His days of theatrics were behind him. He was out to prove a point now. He was out to display something, not to the public, but just to her. And she was running out of time. She had just a day left to figure out what The Riddler’s last clue meant. And she was now hot on the trail of a new gang of hooligans who called themselves “The Jokers”.

“The kind of people that inspire youth!” she thought to herself, “Pathetic!”

“Anything yet?” asked the bat-phone.

It seemed so unlikely. The Batman himself couldn’t find a thing out from the letter. “Nope” she said.

At one point, Barbara thought she’d never find the clue out. She had been digging up all sorts of cases; drug dealers, mob bosses, gangsters who made up head to toe of mafia families. She was sure nothing ever fit.

Three of my Favourite Movie Dialogues/Narratives

I have decided to take a break from my creative writing spree and just make a blog post. The title is pretty explanatory, so let's dive right in, and pardon me for the language they use! ;) :

  • Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta) from Pulp Fiction (1994) :
Jules: Get the fuck out my face with that shit! The motherfucker that said that shit never had to pick up itty-bitty pieces of skull on account of your dumb ass.
Vincent: I got a threshold, Jules. I got a threshold for the abuse that I will take. Now, right now, I'm a fuckin' race car, right, and you got me the red. And I'm just sayin', I'm just sayin' that it's fuckin' dangerous to have a race car in the fuckin' red. That's all. I could blow.
Jules: Oh! Oh! You ready to blow?
Vincent: Yeah, I'm ready to blow.
Jules: Well, I'm a mushroom-cloud-layin' motherfucker, motherfucker! Every time my fingers touch brain, I'm Superfly T.N.T., I'm the Guns of the Navarone! IN FACT, WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOIN' IN THE BACK? YOU'RE THE MOTHERFUCKER WHO SHOULD BE ON BRAIN DETAIL! We're fuckin' switchin'! I'm washin' the windows, and you're pickin' up this nigger's skull!
This one is just pure brilliance of delivery. I just love the slang and the accent. GANGSTA!! Heights of attitude! It takes a lot of talent to make such a serious situation comical and very few can actually pull such a thing off! Pulp Fiction is a must watch for fans of the art of cinema!

Chapter 3 - "Follow me" - a blog series

 FOLLOW ME
       Chapter 3 - Gloom

It was a gloomy morning in Gotham; Barbara knew a storm was coming. Another suicide report was about to come in to her office. Before she even took the call, or switched on the TV, she knew who had died. She had figured it out the previous night. As she took the phone call from Richard Downing, the scenes of the previous night flashed through her :

“Donald Gosling” the bat -phone had screamed. By that time, Barbara had processed the clue enough to know that Riddler’s next target was one among three people. And if she had to pick one of them she would have picked Donald Gosling too. She was impressed with herself at that very moment and she hurried to her car, making sure she took the bat-phone with her.

“I’m getting there” she had replied.

 “There?” Batman had asked.

Chapter 2 - "Follow me" - a blog series

 FOLLOW ME
       Chapter 2 - Strike!

“Barbara! Channel 18! Now!” screamed the bat-phone. Barbara hurriedly turned on the LCD screen in her office and found Channel 18. It was just the news, some stock market news. “Investing, Batman??” she asked, “Today doesn’t seem a good day for investors, dear! Everything is in the red.” “Precisely! Everything except The Gotham Trust Bank.”, replied Batman.

Now, Barbara knew something was wrong. She wondered what the “odd-man-out” could mean. But she hadn’t wondered for long before Batman answered her query; “The bank is a fund provider headed by Thomas Ericsson, a well known social activist. It lends out loans on minimal guarantees to immigrants from across the border. It is known to run at losses.”

“And your point here is...?” asked Barbara.

       Chapter 1 - Hellos

When she got the blank envelope from the frail, old, white butler who rode a Rolls-Royce, Commissioner Barbara Gordon knew that the sender was one of the most influential men (going by the number-plate) in the Northern District of Gotham. Not many people had white butlers in Gotham these days, only a few families do; The Lovetts, The Waynes, The Cornells, The Nelsons to name a few. As she opened the envelope, Barbara couldn’t even have guessed what it would say,

“Dear Commissioner,
Edward Nygma is back in town. I would suggest you take necessary precautions to avoid any damage to public property.
The concerned citizen
Please burn after reading”
